Definitely a good read!! I've heard the lies from the methodical atheists and I've had enough. This argument is for those who seek truth and who speak it. No it's not about Christ, but, it is about recognizing Intelligent Design in nature, which is quite obvious to the humble but not to those who want to play God and have children bow to them. What is intelligence? How do we detect it and what is design? I'm a software engineer so I deal with these concepts every day. I'm Catholic, so, thinking outside the box and recognizing the truth comes naturally. However, humility and the love of truth are paramount in this book. If you have neither, don't bother to read it.

Interesting but teeters too closely to religious arguments for the ID movement.

I enjoyed this book; it was well written and presents a good argument for Intelligent Design. It is also written in "laymen's" terms which makes it much easier for the regular, non-scientific person to understand. They present evidence and arguements, that seem to put Darwinian Evolutionary Theory between a rock and a hard spot. The evidence presented makes you think about where it leads, as well as if what was taught in school all these years was really the truth. I would recommend this book to anyone for a good, objective read.

Wonderful perspective on both sides. I liked how it gave me a good perspective on Intelligent Design, while not knocking down the Evolution viewpoint. But I had an issue with the logical fallacies towards the end of the book... It seemed like the author just wanted to push the creationistic belief at the end after selling the pitch in the beginning. Otherwise, there are some nice points that are taken... Not a book worth to re-read, but definitely a good book for an introduction from the perspective of the ID theory.

This is a reasonably short, lucid book which will bring the reader up to speed on Intelligent Design and what it is.It is incredibly clear on the logical fallacy being deployed by those who say that "Intelligent Design is simply not science." Such people are coming from a position of philosophical materialism, and have decreed that scientific inquiry follow one and only one method, which is methodological materialism. They assert (or pretend) that science can only accept naturalistic or materialist answers. "That's the way science works," they sniff, and there they commit the logical fallacy of begging the question, as assuming what they need to prove. After all, this alleged "rule" is not part of any great physical law, and the people making an argument for Intelligent Design are challenging exactly this bogus rule.As others have tellingly pointed out, we got into this whole scientific exploration of our universe in order to try and determine the truth. (!) The last thing we need is some sniffy methodologists telling us that we are only allowed to discover truths which satisfy philosophical materialism. If you care for a very carefully phrased description of this situation, you might consider this:"...it is certainly true that belief or faith is not knowledge in the sense of practical knowledge and its particular kind of calculability. It can never become that, and in the last analysis it can only make itself ridiculous if it tries to establish itself in those forms. But the reverse is also true: calculable practical knowledge is limited by its very nature to the apparent, to what functions, and does not represent the way in which to find truth itself, which by its very method it has renounced."(Who wrote that? Benedict XVI!)...(And, no, I'm not a Christian, much less a Catholic.)On top of that logical fallacy, such people have a strong tendency to state that "science does NOT YET have an answer to the development of the irreducible complexity of the cell," thereby implying that an answer will be coming along any old time now. As David Berlinski puts it, that's right up there with "the check is in the mail" as a powerful, convincing statement. In the meantime, Atheist Scientists Inc. are up to some extremely dubious activities, such as "Chemical Evolution" and "Molecular Evolution." (See Wikipedia for "abiogenesis," which is "spontaneous generation" dressed up in a cheap tuxedo.) And excuse me for objecting that evolution is something which happens only to living things.

One of the best resources for information in the field of Intelligent Design. The scientific community has an unfortunate bias towards anything that comes from a Biblical or Christian source. Although scientists claim to be seekers of knowledge into how the universe came into being, they have a very narrow willingness to hear any alternative to the existence of life, other than the Theory of Evolution. Although Intelligent Design has the most intelligent and reasonable theories for the existence of the universe, it is considered by most scientists to be myth and delusion. The major colleges and universities in the Untied States will not hear any evidence for design, nor will they allow the teaching of intelligent design along side the Theory of Evolution. The scientific community has decided that Evolution is the final answer to the existence of life, and there is no room whatsoever for discussion from any other possible theory. This wonderful book by William Demski is both scholarly and scientific in it's explanation of Intelligent Design and why it should be considered as a viable option alongside the Theory of Evolution. For the sincere seeker of truth, I would highly recommend this resource for credible and accurate information in a field of science that is likely to overtake Evolution in the next ten years.Increasingly, scientists are departing their long held adherence to Evolution, as greater knowledge is gained in how the cell is constructed and the rapidly accelerating knowledge in the area of Biology. It is certain that at some point in the near future, all credible scientists will abandon Evolution as the evidence for it's impossibility becomes beyond the tolerance of rational people. As this takes place, the evidence for design in the universe will be increasingly acceptable as a reasonable explanation for the existence of design in the cell and throughout the entire universe.Doulos
