What more could you ask for in a novel about friends and cruising to the sea and surf in beautiful Bermuda? I love the author’s scenic descriptions of the landscape on the boat, in the water, and on the land. The Genres of this novel are Fiction and Women’s Fiction.The timeline of this story is in the present and goes back to the past or mentions the future when it pertains to the events or the characters.Wendy Francis describes her colorful cast of characters as complex, troubled, secretive, and loyal. This is a wonderful book about friends and sisterhood. Three college roommates meet together with their families and significant others on a cruise to celebrate one of their twentieth Anniversary Wedding Celebrations.Many things have changed ,yet stayed the same in the twenty years span for the friends. Abby and her husband Sam along with their twin teenage sons are celebrating twenty years of being married by taking her friends on a cruise. Caroline in now a high-profile Magazine writer and is with her boyfriend Javier. Caroline is hoping for a proposal, but is Javier, who has been with her three years on board with that? Single Mom Lee, is trying to stabilize her relationship with her daughter Lacey, who has changed since her first year of college.This is a heartwarming, captivating and endearing story of friendship, sisterhood, family, love, faith and hope. A fun read that had me dreaming of pink sand and deep blue waters. The characters were well developed and relatable--a group of friends cruising to celebrate a milestone, but of course it isn't all smooth sailing. There are ups and downs along the way, and the writing made it easy to imagine that I was right with them on the journey. Would recommend this as a perfect book for the summer beach bag.

BENJAMIN REID PHILLIPS has been teaching drawing, storyboarding, and sequential art courses at SCAD since 2004. He is also a sequential artist and illustrator whose work has been featured in the Cartoon Art Museum's Monsters of Webcomics series. He won the Georgia College Press Association's Best Editorial Feature for his District serial, Dr. Dead. Phillips has also worked on Devil's Due comic edition of FOX's hit TV series, Family Guy.DAVID HARLAND ROUSSEAU has taught drawing and design courses at SCAD since 2005. He is an entrepreneur, author, award-winning illustrator, graphic designer, actor, and former video journalist and news reporter. I've read a few books on storyboarding, this is by far the most fun, not only cause it's up to date. But its just fresh and fun to read.some books can be very dry and professional. this book was done in a way thats as fun as reading a comic. used the show not tell set of mind. as in instead of going on some long lengthy paragraph it will just plan show you what they mean. lots of pictures and examples in this book. the book done with a younger audience in mind.I mean just look at who did it. I sure they have years of experience to make the material interesting and I got to say this book pulls it off very well.theres also a lot of great interviews to read and you get to learn from different experiences.this book made me with I was able to go to the school. looking forward to other books by them

I'm currently employed in the industry as a designer for tv animation but wanted to sharpen up my board skills with this book, but its basically useless. It contains the very very basics of boarding ie reminders about continuity and not breaking the 180 rule and things like how to read a script, but all of the sample work they show is clearly by students and has huge problems (clarity, composition, detail level, camera placement, tangents, tone, posing, acting, etc.) that wouldn't fly in a professional environment, its ridiculous to use them as an example to follow. All the accurate information is so basic you can google it. I think this is a course requirement for a class at SCAD so if you gotta buy it you gotta buy it, but if you're learning on your own definitely skip this one.

This is AWESOME. I've been reading and rereading this to get a handle on how to do storyboarding on my own as almost a precursor for creating comics and hopefully short films in the future. I can't wait to use the techniques and advice I've read in this book.

Great reference for storyboarding. I especially enjoyed the discussion of camera shots. I purchased the book vis-a-vis comic creation and the "shot" sections have giving me reason to pause and rethink how panels/frames are designed.

This is a very useful book. It not only covers storyboarding it self, but talks of camera angles, composition and other production. It's just what my students needed to gain some solid background in the video production class. Recommended.

There are now three books in the Ball line-up for home canners.I would say that the following order reflects the hierarchy.1. Ball Blue Book;2. Ball Complete;3. All New Ball Book of Canning (this one)1. If you are a beginner canner, and don't have (1) yet, you need to get it. It has all the basics in a succinct fashion. And because it's the smallest book, it's the easiest to flip through to find quick reference information on canning beans and other veg perfectly. As of time of writing this review in June 2016 the most current one is: Ball Blue Book, 37th edition, 2014. (Note: there's no metric in this edition, only American volume measurements. If you want metric and weights, you need to search for the UK edition of this book, titled "Ball Blue Book® Guide - Metric Edition.")Ball Blue Book Guide To Preserving, 37Th Edition2. As you grow in canning you will want to expand your repertoire. Then you will want to add the Ball Complete. It recaps a lot of what is in the Blue Book, and adds a lot more onto it. No photos, though, just a good old-style recipe book.Measurements are given in American and metric. The most current one, as of time of writing this review in June 2016, is:Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving3. Experienced canners, though, will eventually get bored of the above two books, and hunger for a more challenging set of canning recipes with more interesting ingredients, and a greater choice of pressure canning recipes. This book, the ALL NEW, is the book for them. Lots of ethnic recipes, lots of all new pressure canning recipes for interesting dishes, lots of interesting gourmet ingredients, and Ball has finally caught up with its Canadian sister Bernardin and let the wine flow freely in the recipes. This book goes above and beyond the added variety that home canners have been pleading for from Ball for some years now. Measurements are in American and metric. They've really done a great job here with this book. The only thing is, I'm not sure what they are going to call it when it's not "new" anymore! :}Eventually you will want all three books. Even experienced canners just wanting to refresh their memories for processing times on a jar of plain mushrooms will always want a copy of the Ball Blue Book to hand, because its brevity is exactly what you want "in the heat of the moment." But as you grow, you may get bored of what is in the Blue Book, and when you do, you will want to get the other two Ball books.____________________*Note that none of the books have more than a small handful of recipes for special dietary needs such as low-sugar or low-sodium (aside of course from the plain veg ones for pressure canning.) Although I like the new recipes, this book is not up to Ball's quality standards. I'm a master food preserver through the University of California, so I have a fair amount of expertise (plus, over 25 years of experience in food preserving). There's some errors in describing the science behind food preservation, particularly in the pressure canning and the fermentation chapters. For instance, the environment inside a pressure canner is not a vacuum, but rather a pressurized one. This high-pressure environment allows the contents to reach 240F, which is required to destroy botulism spores. The explanation of salt brine's role in the process of fermentation is ambiguous and confusing. The brine does not 'attract' lactobacillus but rather retards the growth of spoilage bacteria, which allows the lactobacillus to out-compete the harmful bacteria. It is the lactobacillus that creates the acidic environment, not the salt. Also, acidity and anaerobicity are two distinct conditions. The book states that the acidity creates the anaerobic environment, which is simply not true.Some of the recipes contain errors in editing. For example, in at least one salsa recipe (Salsa Roja), garlic is listed as an ingredient, and mentioned in the first step, but never mentioned again. There are several omissions like this.I also have concerns regarding the use of fresh lime juice instead of bottled juice in some recipes. This may result in some cooperative extensions recommending against using this book. If the fresh juice is recommended as a flavoring rather than an acidifier, this should be noted as such. This is especially confusing because in other places in the book, 5% acidity bottled lemon juice is specifically mentioned.Other than these issues, the recipes I've made so far are delicious and quite different from the usual fare. I especially like the unique flavor combinations, particularly the addition of fresh herbs, wine, and other new ingredients. I wish I could give this book 5 stars.

Very nice book. Beautifully photographed. As an experienced canner, I don't need a basic primer to show me how to can and preserve. I would use the Ball Blue Book Guide To Preserving, 37th Edition for that. That being the case, this is a nice supplemental book covering quick refreshers of how to water bath and pressure can, fermentation, freezing and dry meats, fruits, and vegetables. What IS nice about this publication is they are now providing the user with some really good recipes you can serve your family which feature your canned and preserved products. I don't think they have done this before.This book wasn't meant as a beginner's primer for canning at all. It is a continuation of the excellent publications Ball publishes. If you are a novice canner, this isn't the book for you. But as a compliment to your canning library, it is a nice go-to addition. I plan to make a number of the recipes it contains.

This book is a total rip off for those who want to learn canning... I am new to pressure canning and was informed to begin with a good BALL BOOK... This is not it... This is a very big book with 368 pages and only 30 pages on canning ( I counted them)If you want a recipe book with mostly jelly recipes then you may like it... But if you want a book on canning then RUN do not WALK quickly away from this book, especially at the price you get charged...

I ordered this thinking I was replacing my Ball Blue Book that was misplaced, but this is a massive book with a thick flat spine that's hard to use when you're working in the kitchen.This is more of a cookbook with some canning recipes thrown in. The index is pretty terrible: I just want to be able to look up all the recipes that use a specific ingredient. How is there no "zucchini" section in the index?This book is fine if you're looking for a book to read and get some canning and cooking ideas-- it's not really a practical in-the-kitchen companion.

Isabella Bird is best known for her travel account, A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains, but this was but a blip on Isabella's travel log. Instructed by her doctor to travel to improve her health, she apparently recovered her energy and forgot about her back problems as soon as she left England. Over and over again.We are fortunate to have several less well known volumes of her travels available. Journeys in Persia and Kurdistan, Volume One, makes her Colorado trip seem like a lark. Sleeping in leaking mud huts, traveling over rutted roads hardly more than paths, into parts of Asia that are still remote for all but the most determined travelers, Isabella gives us her accounts of the people, the landscape, manners, customs, costumes and so on. She has a keen eye and a vivid gift of description. Although we sense that she sees herself as more cultured and refined than her companions and the village and townspeople she encounters, the reader must give her some leeway. She IS a gentlewoman, traveling with a rather large supporting cast and I sense she could be imperious if not downright demanding. She always seems to get her way. But she never condescends to her subjects. She does not see them as downtrodden (even if they were) or "poor" or uncivilized. She describes what she sees and often shares with the people she meets.This is perhaps not as engaging as A Lady's Life, but we are familiar with America and many readers know Colorado--I am writing this within a few miles of her route back to Denver--but it's still a good read for anyone interested in early Western travel in the Far East or in the incredible Isabella.P.S. Her book on Tibet is even better than Journeys...

I already had this book and didn't realize it! Good read from a different period in time.

It was so cool to read about a single woman navigating in Persia when it WAS Persia. This is a travel adventure that will amaze you with the vividness of descriptions of both the culture and country side of Persia in the 1800s. I love the perspective of a single woman traveling in areas where NO Europeans had yet traveled - let alone a woman. If you want to learn something exciting about history and be thrilled at the same time you will enjoy this book.

Engrossing..Isabella Bird was a remarkable, courageous woman who dared to travel the world and write detailed accounts of her experiences. All of her accounts of her travels are wonderful reads...especially since they happened last century.

All I can Say is "WOW" - Honestly - A Huge Thank you to the author Eric Mitchell! His first book walked me through the steps of getting familiar with my Kamado and this follow up is just mind blowing! It is absolutely Beautiful!! The entire book is Magical and the photography is gorgeous! All of the recipes are Over-the-top Awesome! - P82 Tandoori Chicken!!! (I Just Knew it was going to be in there!!) I'm an avid BBQ enthusiast who came across the Big Green Egg two years ago for the first time. I am in Texas and have tried just about every type of outdoor cooking. I purchased an egg and a few cookbooks and started a passionate venture that really feels more like a calling. I haven't touched my barrel smoker, my weber, or my propane Viking grill since my discovery of the Egg. When I started to use this author's first book I immediately became a student. I first took notice to the fact that each recipe includes instructions from start to finish including how to set up the egg each and every time. His techniques are easy to follow and adapt to and he consistently makes it easy to check (and recheck) the entire process without having to reference anything other than the page you are working off of. I quickly went from being "Green" (Had to say it) - to becoming widely known as the best cook in my circle of friends and family. I have recently completed each and every recipe in the first book "Smoke It like a Pro" and this new book proves to be another amazing adventure. The techniques and instructions in this edition are very straight forward and are never hard to follow - I have never failed on a single recipe I have gone after and I feel like a pro each and every time. Seriously - I'm writing this review with pure gratitude. I purchased the first book six times over to give to friends as a gift and I have already purchased this one again ;)

I use both of Eric Mitchell’s books all year long. His recipes are easy to read and I’ve found all of the to work as described.

As popular as The Big Green Egg is with grillers everywhere, it is hard to find a good recipe book for it! This book is a "real person" cookbook with wonderful tips, tricks, and recipes that can be used for any ceramic griller like the BGE. So glad I found this!

This book is perfect for the new Egger because all the guess work is taken out of cooking your dish/meat. The entire book is recipes. It includes the basic meat smoking recipes to the more exotic. He directs you how to exactly set your lower vent and daisy opening for the desired temperature necessary to achieve the perfect results. The author instructs you how long the dish will take and has an accompanying photo of the completed dish. This is the perfect book for someone who does not have the fancy temperature probe where you set the temp and the controller achieves your desire temp. That has always been a tricky part for the new Egger. The author takes a lot of the guess work out of it for you. The other step that is hard for the new cook is just how long will the roast will take to cook. He gives you the time it should take to make the dish. His first book "Smoke It Like A Pro" is another great book for beginners, Eggheads having some technique questions, etc. Both books are great "go to" books and well worth their purchase price.

Even though I own a Char-Griller Akorn, this recipe book doesn't know it. Folks actually believe that I know how to cook.

I have both of these books by Eric Mitchell, both great books. The first one for me is a must have, some super recipes. While this book also has some great recipes I just feel the first one was better, a much better read relating to the BGE. Many of the same details from the first book are also in here.

I was given the first of the two books by Eric Mitchell as a birthday gift, the first one impressed me so much that I bought the second of the two! Lots of great recipes for grilling outside the egg. Enables you to think outside of the box when preparing and grilling!

5 FABULOUS STARS!! I love this fabulous book, I could not put it down. Gabriel and Avery are perfect.....these two were so tough and I loved their connection. This story had it all from sexiness, ruthless, power, mystery, some humor and love. This author has become one of my favorites ever and a must 1-Click.

I like Gabriel and Avery. They kept my interest through both books. I do not know much about chess, but I get the reference!

WOW! The Pawn just left me with my heart ripped out, tears in my eyes and my jaw on the floor! This story earns a very solid 5 stars from me. It kept me intrigued from beginning to end, had my toes curling and thighs clenching in sexual anticipation, several times, and it holds many twists and suspenseful scenes. This is my first book by Skye Warren and I can honestly say I'm blown away and will search out all her books now.The Pawn is the story of Avery and Gabriel – her fall from grace and attempted rise from the ashes, and Gabriel’s attempt at seduction and revenge. By no fault of her own, Avery has been thrown from her ivory tower in the sky and she is ready to face the ultimate sacrifice to honour and protect her father, no matter his crimes Gabriel comes to her rescue, or so she thinks, but what are his true intentions? Has he been affected by the sweet Avery more than he ever imagined possible? I think perhaps he has, and even though he may be in denial over the power she carries, he forces himself to carry on with his plan of revenge, ignoring the pain and heartbreak it causes to both of them. Gabriel may be a chess master but Avery is an excellent player as well, so I anticipate some high stakes and favourable exchanges to come with more pieces falling into place in future matches.The relationship between Gabriel and Avery may have begun in an unconventional style, forced by circumstance, but the seductive dance they both play that leads to the giving and taking of Avery’s most valuable commodity is absolutely fascinating and provocative. Never before have I been so captivated by the thought of having sex and the possibilities that lie ahead while the virgin remains intact. Gabriel is playing his game to the fullest, using all his defensive tactics, teasing Avery by enticing her to enjoy the pleasures of the game and to give in to the desire to feel good.Gabriel and Avery have danced the dance, played all the pieces until the final checkmate. No matter how the game began or who made the first move, they have a connection that can’t be denied or toppled like the King and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the games play out. Of course, this is all just in my imagination, the way I want the story to play out but what the author has in store for us, we do know.When The Pawn finished, I was left with questions about Gabriel’s intentions for Avery’s future. How far is he willing to take his revenge if it will mean he loses her forever? Luckily, all the answers I seek are at my fingertips in the boxed set. I can’t recommend The Pawn enough and I hope you give into your desire to play chess with the master.The Knight is Book 2 in The Endgame Series and continues where The Pawn left off. The sexual attraction between Avery and Gabriel intensifies with The Knight. Gabriel has sent Avery away before her 30-day contract is up and has left her homeless, broke, and sexually awakened. Avery is ready and prepared to do whatever is required to bring the pompous Gabriel Miller to his knees. Little does she know, that is exactly where he craves to be, as long as she is standing in front of him.Avery is a strong heroine who despite her most valiant attempts, can’t seem to keep her traitorous body from melting into the skilled hands of the gorgeous chess master, Gabriel. Gabriel himself has also fallen prey to the feisty, innocent virgin who has unknowingly spun a web and trapped him like a fly.The Knight is a story of tangled lives where lies are told and secrets kept, all for the sake of family pride and honour. As these old family secrets and lies are slowly uncovered, Gabriel tries to protect Avery from the painful truth of her past, underestimating how capable she really is.The Knight has it all when it comes to an amazing read. Suspense, mystery, romance, and an alpha male with a mouth full of bold, sexual whisperings that leave Avery with a need so intense, she finds herself demanding to be sated by her enemy. Gabriel is shocked when he realizes that Avery may have real feelings for him and he struggles with how to come to terms with that. Gabriel tries to portray himself as the dangerous and mysterious man who doesn’t do relationships or love anyone but something about Avery just won’t let him. They have a very strong mutual attraction that neither one seems to be able to walk away from.I absolutely loved The Knight and The Pawn. The characters have an untraditional relationship but that’s what makes their story so intriguing. Skye Warren’s writing style is point blank and on the money, getting you heated up and ready to combust with Gabriel’s over-the-top sexual innuendos. No matter what terrible and unthinkable things Gabriel seems to have done, she manages to have the reader cheering him on hoping for a relationship touchdown. The storyline is amazing and very satisfying. It doesn’t leave you pulling your hair out but gives you enough wonder about the revenge to come to mark your calendar for the release of The Castle.

The PawnI was on the edge of my seat for the entire story, I expected nothing less!!!! The blurb for the book explains the circumstances, but what it doesn't tell you is that you will feel every raw, stark and wild thought and experience Avery has. And you will, you will be on the edge of your seat, your heart will be pounding and brain will implode with every action, reaction and event that occurs.This book is from Avery's perspective, so you never quite get what is going on behind the scenes with Gabriel, but that won't make you love or hate him more. You will regularly have both those thoughts with him, though you will marvel at his dirty ways, sensitivity and cunning at manipulating the situations to his likingThe KnightI think I had a good abs workout reading this book, my stomach was clenched the whole time!! This isn't dark like The Pawn, but it is full of suspense and wondering, what next, why that, and, wow, that was not what I thought, now what about..... you get the picture.To say it wasn't as dark doesn't mean there aren't some deep and emotional moments with Gabriel and Avery. It still is more charcoal than black, and definitely not pure lily white, but then again, there relationship will never be that.With so much going on around them, and because of them, and to them, this is how they forge together in that fire, and are stronger because of it. We get more of their stories, some they didn't know they had, and some that were inevitable.So, this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but the story does continue. Those of us who crave and HEA, we get a version of it here, but the fight, the battle, is still not done. I'll be along for the more, because these characters need to have some semblance of peace in their lives, and I'll follow them until they do!

This my second Skye Warren ARC... When I signed up for this I thought this was something new from the author but its actually a trilogy called the Endgame Series that's just being released as a boxed set... and as it turns out, I already have this series in my library for some time now... Aaaah, the bookworm life.I can't go quite into details because I don't want to give anything away...Gabriel Miller is a ruthless businessman and one of the most feared residents of Tanglewood... Avery James was Tanglewood royalty. She was the local princess who fell from grace... Life took turn for the worst and she found herself auctioning her virginity to the highest bidder in an exclusive gentlemen's club called the Den. Of course, Gabriel Miller wins the bid, and she would be at his mercy for one whole month.I've read all three books in the series... There's just something about the whole innocent girl and broken, reluctant villain falling in love with each other amidst all the crazies... plus mix it up with over-the-top conspiracy theories and shady characters and you got yourself hooked like a junkie... like you're indulging yourself in some kind of a guilty pleasure.Dark romances aren't really my kind of thing but I indulge myself from time to time because there's just something about it that draws me in. I've read others that are darker, bordering on sick—I'm a dreamer and a romantic sap, so I tend to avoid those...This series—the Endgame series, will definitely keep you on your toes. If you're into psychological, dark romance... then this is the book to pick up next.
